Failing is A Good Thing?!? (Daily Devo 09/25)
Proverbs 24:16 (KJV)
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
We often fear failure. Society teaches us that failing is a sign of weakness and not being good enough. But in God’s eyes, failure is seen as a tool He uses to draw us closer to Him. Failure, when seen through the lens of faith, is a gift that reminds us of our need for God.
Proverbs 24:16 reminds us, "a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again." The righteous may fall, but the key is that we get back up. Each time we fail, it’s an opportunity to rise again, not by our own strength but by leaning on God. It’s in these moments of failure that we are reminded of our humanity, our imperfections, and our deep need for God’s grace.
Failure is not the end, it's where grace begins.
Though we may stumble and fail in the flesh, the incredible truth of the gospel is that our spirit is already perfect and holy in God’s eyes. Through Jesus, we have been made righteous.
Our failures don’t define us, Jesus' sacrifice does.
His blood has already washed away our sins, past, present, and future. Even when we fail, we stand blameless before God. That's the beauty of being righteous. Faith allows us to transcend our current situations.
Failure can be a blessing because it strips away the illusion that we are in control. It humbles us, showing us that we can’t do it all on our own. But more than that, failure leads us back to God. It’s in those moments when we feel weak, defeated, and inadequate that we turn to Him. Sometimes we need reminders that our strength and righteousness come from Him alone.
The world may see failure as something to avoid, but God allows us to fail because He knows it will lead us to lean on Him. Each failure is a reminder that we are not self-sufficient. We need His grace, His love, and His power working in us.
It's in weakness where we learn how to stand and overcome all things.
Being grateful, even when we fail, is key to understanding God’s love for us. When we fail, we can thank God because He is using that failure to teach us, to refine us, and to bring us closer to Him.
God is so faithful because even though we may fail, He reminds us that we are already accepted, loved, and perfected.
I hope this devotional can shift your perspective on failure.
Instead of seeing failure as a setback, we can view it as an opportunity to grow with God. In failure we find gratitude.
Just as a loving father disciplines his children to teach them, God uses our failures to shape us, to humble us, and to draw us back to Him. It’s important to remember that failure is not a sign that God has abandoned us. It’s actually a sign that He’s working on us. He’s refining our character, teaching us to trust Him more deeply, and reminding us of our need for His grace.
Failure is not defeat, but grace in disguise.
I hope we can all embrace this and live happily experienced God every day. Amen!
