1 Thessalonians 5:12-14
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
As ministers we often have to assume many roles but the most impactful role is Shepherd. Our job is to minister and guide the people to their master through the gospel.
We labor to shift the focus of individuals from themselves back to message of Jesus. Many have hardened hearts and that's why as ministers we must warn them of these things. A hardened heart means they do not want to throw their thoughts away, they rather fight, argue, and reject the guidance of God through the ministers.
Our job is also to warn people about this straying away from the gospel into judgment.
God wants us to think about the hearts of our servants who he appointed to do this very task. We should always focus on having peace amongst ourselves and with the servants of God.
Verse 14 tells us to look out for those people who are not submissive. The people who cause strife through judgement, gossip, and self-righteousness.
It also tells us to comfort/support those who are weak or lacking in direction. We should always look to help guide those people.
Lastly, we should support them through patience.
God provides the grace for us to do this already through Jesus. He gives us the heart to submit, but we must also choose to accept it. Amen!
