• The Vow Only God Could Keep (Leviticus 27 Devotional)

    Leviticus 27:2 (KJV)

“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the Lord by thy estimation.”

We've all made promises and vows to people. Some of which we could not keep even towards God. But Leviticus 27 teaches us that even when we didnt keep our promises, God still upheld his.

Even before Jesus, God wanted to show that a vow to Him was set apart, special, and pointed to something greater.

When we try to rededicate our lives or pay God back with works, we’re forgetting that Leviticus ends by saying nothing devoted can be redeemed by man. Only Christ redeems. We feel like we need to "give something" to God to stay saved.

Many of us focused on obedience through works. But this chapter teaches us that your salvation doesn’t fluctuate with your behavior. Our value isn’t based on what we feel, but what God declares.

You and I were vowed to the Lord not by our effort, but by the blood of Jesus who made the ultimate singular vow.

He gave His life so that we would belong to God forever. The Father made an estimation… and chose to pay the price with His Son.

If God already estimated your worth and paid the price, what are you still trying to earn?

I hope we can remember that God made a vow before we ever made a mistake.

If you're still struggling, come to class prepared as this chapter is all about letting go of self-estimation and embracing God’s valuation.

Amen, see you guys tomorrow @ 10am PST
